I start with technical exercises, and we work on pieces in parallel to develop musicality and phrasing. My interest is mainly classical, but I can teach other styles, e.g. film music, pop and jazz. I can also give music theory lessons if necessary

Pianist and musicologist, I have been teaching piano in all styles (classical, jazz, film and popular music) to students of all ages for almost 20 years. With over 8 years of experience as a Solfege, Oriental Solfege, Oud, and Oriental singing teacher, I am a Lebanese musician currently residing in Mönchengladbach, Germany. It is a quarter note with a unique and distinct sound. My goal is to make people of all ages and levels learn not only playing an instrument but how can music help them in their everyday life. The scores are written with a hybrid notation (music notation and tab notation), and with all the information necessary about the right and left hand. After having agreed on the pieces / songs to be worked on, the relevant score is shared and given at the lesson. The teacher goes through it, while he also plays it live to the pupil for even more reach. He then explains what needs to be clarified in order to prepare any homework. Finally, Alex creates a video tutorial about the piece or song that needs to be learned for the next lesson. This gives extra support when practising at home, in order to avoid any doubt and keep motivation up. A report is then created to keep track of what has been done as well as what needs to be worked on, in order to unlock technical requirements and complete a specific repertoire in a constructive and efficient way. Alex teaches in Rotterdam at home or at the pupil's own location ; lessons are in Dutch, English or French, for all ages and levels. Holder of a higher diploma in composition from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot in composition in the class of Michaël Levinas, having benefited from a double curriculum which allowed me to follow the courses of Anthony Girard in orchestration and having done my writing classes at the Schola Cantorum and the International Conservatory, I offer rigorous courses in counterpoint, harmony and analysis. As a classical/contemporary composer, I also give composition lessons to anyone who wishes to broaden their understanding of the sound phenomenon and the evolution of musical languages. Finally, I offer musical training exercises if necessary with ear training that is specific to micro-tonality. The older I get, the more I love. Especially during these times of immense ugliness and hate, wars and conflict, music- that's always been all about love - is the home I keep returning to. To me, mentoring someone is all about sharing the love for the instrument, thirst about the material, desire to explore new musical paths and respect for whatever happens whilst playing. Not only we will explore technical paths and understand rhythm under a totally different light but also communicate through improvisation and modal principles. My goal is for you to love the instrument a bit more, music a bit more and as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said "Perhaps love is the process of my leading you gently back to yourself". I'm a French violinist currently in my 4th year of a classical violin Bachelor at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, and I hold a DEM (Diplôme d'Études Musicales) from the CRR de Paris (Regional Paris conservatory) where I studied with Florin Szigeti. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with Josef Spacek, Pavel Vernikov, Olivier Charlier, Igor Volochine, Marianne Piketty, and I love sharing everything I’ve learned from them through my own teaching. I have experience with Orchestra and chamber music as well. I had the pleasure of participating in a side by side project with the Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio France and play in various prestigious settings. I provide private cello lessons for adult students at all levels in the Berlin, Germany area. I teach primarily in English or German but can also teach in French, some basic Spanish and Portuguese. I have a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in cello performance as well as over 15 years of teaching experience. I also offer regular group classes for adults, deep diving into specific topics of cello technique or different repertoire.
